Terrell Jefferson Holland Obituary

Published: Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 09:45 AM.

Mr. Terrell Jefferson Holland, age 67, of Altha, FL passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 in Tallahassee, FL. Terrell was born on August 28, 1945 in Calhoun County and had lived here most of his life. He was a retired Supervisor at St. Joe Paper Company with 30 years of service and also retiring from Big River Cypress with 13 years of service. Terrell was a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Altha Church of God in Altha, FL.

If you went into Terrell’s home and sat down in his recliner, you would find on the end table next to his chair a stack of aviation magazines and a Bible, well-worn around the edges with underlines and notes scribbled throughout. He loved flying and he loved to study the Scriptures. He touched more lives than can be counted, but perhaps the most remarkable thing about Terrell was then when told so, he couldn’t understand how. He walked with a rare form of humility; on so genuine that it blinded himself to the scope of the good that he had done in the community he loved so dearly.

He will always be remembered as a man of great convictions, who committed himself to the service of his beloved family, to his Christian faith and to his work. He will be remembered by those that he worked with as both a man with an unwavering commitment to getting the job done, and as a loyal friend. He will be remembered by his church family as a man with the heart of a servant, with steadfast faith in the goodness and faithfulness of the God that he worshipped. He will be remembered by his family as a tender man, utterly selfless and overflowing with an abundant and unconditional love for his parents, wife and children, brothers and sisters, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was a strong man, but he walked with an unforgettable gentleness of spirit that touched all those who came in contact with him. He laughed often, loved immensely, worked tirelessly and gave of himself and his resources generously. He is described by those nearest him quite simply as “the type of person who makes the world go round.”

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Holland of Altha, FL; two sons, Glenn Holland and his wife Connie of Altha, FL, and Terrance Holland of Denver, CO; one daughter, Laura Holland of Denver, CO; three sisters, Marie Boals of Altha, FL, Margaret Todd and her husband Houston of Blountstown, FL, and Bonnie McDonald and her husband Gil of Altha, FL; and grandchildren Tyler, Sandy and Ashley Holland.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Altha Church of God in Altha, FL with Reverend Allan Nichols officiating. Interment followed in Victory Hill Cemetery near Altha. The family received friends 6-8 p.m. CT on Wednesday, May 1, 213 at Peavy Funeral Home.

All arrangements under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
