Donations for flags/flag poles needed

Published: Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 12:02 PM.

This is a request to our community, military members, family, and friends.  The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club, Inc., needs your assistance in raising $1,800.  This money will be used to purchase five 25-foot flag poles, and five flags representing the five branches of the United States military.  We are proud of our military and want to show our appreciation for their service and sacrifice to us and our country.

This is one of our major projects this year and we need assistance from the community to help make this happen.  Our goal is to purchase the flag poles and flags so that we can complete our Patriotic Beautification Project at the “V” (across the street from the Wewahitchka Library).  Last year we began our project, in thanks to our partnership with the City of Wewahitchka, with their donation of an American flag, a State of Florida flag, and a spotlight.  We also are very grateful to Jerry and Sharon Gaskin for donating a 35-foot flagpole.  A special thanks to Ralph Fisher at Fisher Hardware for putting down the slab and erecting the flag pole. Thanks also the local VFW Chapter #8285 for their support with this project.

Anyone who would like to make a donation can send a check to GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club, Inc., PO Box 94, Wewahitchka, FL 32465.  If you have any questions concerning this project, please call Patty Fisher at 639-9794.
