The Florida Department of Health in Gulf County is offering free swim lessons to the first 30 youngsters aged 5-15 to register.

All lessons are taught by an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and follow American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim guidelines. The sessions offered are all designed to give students a positive learning experience as they are introduced to the water and learn basic personal water safety information and skills. In this beginner level, elementary aquatic skills are taught, with students focusing on development of positive attitudes, good swimming habits and safe practices in and around the water.

Session One will be held 5 p.m. ET on May 5, 6, 8, 12, 13 and 15 at St. Joseph’s Bay Country Club located at 700 Country Club Road in Port St. Joe.

Session Two will be held 6:30 p.m. CT May 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at Taunton’s Children Home located at 200 Taunton Family Road in Wewahitchka.
