BRATT — Blountstown used a multitude of big plays to score 51 points in the first half and cruised to a 59-13 win over Northview on Friday night in Class 1A football.

The Tigers, 2-1, got four touchdown passes from quarterback Trent Peacock and scored six times on plays covering more than 23 yards during the romp.

Northview, 1-2, opened the scoring on a 2-yard run by MJ Jones before the onslaught ensued.

Blountstown first-quarter touchdowns were Peacock to Trevin Smith for 28 yards, Peacock to Jamal Howard for 61 yards and Peacock to Jar’Kevis Bess for 23 yards.

After Denzel Washington scored from the 1 early in the second quarter, Peacock passed to Kevon Godwin for a 37-yard score. Godwin then intercepted Northview quarterback Seth Killam and returned 37 yards for a TD, and later in the quarter romped 83 yards with an interception return.

James Shores added six extra points and a 29-yard field goal to the first-half blitz. Trent Smith ran 70 yards in the third quarter to close the scoring.

Blountstown totaled 416 total yards to 137 for the Chiefs. Trent Smith led in rushing with 85 yards on six carries and Peacock was 6 of 9 for 182 yards and four TDs.

Blountstown, 2-1, hosts Liberty County next week.

 

Chipley 35, Vernon 6

VERNON — The Tigers improved to 4-0 on the season with the victory, while the Yellowjackets dropped to 1-2. Andrew Lawton led Chipley with 215 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, while Kelvin Dean added 138 yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts. Jordan Speed also rushed for 70 yards on three carries.

Mason Cook added a rushing touchdown of his own for the Tigers, who compiled 454 yards of offense on the ground. Defensively, Jamison Spencer led the way for Chipley with seven tackles, while Zac Wilson added six.
