SCHRIEVER -- The Riverside Lady Rebels scored the first goal of the night, but the Houma Christian Lady Warriors answered with the next nine.

After relinquishing an early goal, the Lady Warriors took full control, defeating Riverside 9-1 in Division 6-IV soccer action Tuesday night.

“I am so proud of this team,” Houma Christian coach Marty Boquet said. “It has been an amazing journey with this team this year. They are maturing, peaking and gelling at the right time. Riverside played great soccer tonight, I am just happy we were able to come away with the win.”

After a goal in the third minute by Jada Williams put the Lady Rebels (3-14 overall, 1-4 in district) up 1-0, Houma Christian took complete control of the match with six first-half goals.

Alex McKeon opened the scoring for Houma Christian (10-1-6, 4-0 in district) with her first of two goals in the seventh minute. Just five minutes later, Taylor Webb found the net, her first of three goals, to put the Lady Warriors on top 2-1.

McKeon added her second goal four minutes later to give her team the 3-1 lead just 16 minutes into the game before two goals by Webb and one from Koryn Barett pushed the Houma Christian led to 6-1 at the break.

Three more goals in the second half led to the game being stopped in the 65th minute due to the mercy rule.

Koryn Barrett’s second goal gave Houma Christian a 7-1 lead in the 60th minute before penalty kicks by Kamryn Barrett and Houma Christian’s lone senior, Emily Duplantis, put the game away in the 61st and 65th minutes. respectively.

Koryn Barrett (three), McKeon (two), Webb (one) and Kamryn Barrett (one) all lead the Lady Warriors in assists in addition to scoring goals of their own.

Jillian Daigle recorded three saves in goal the Houma Christian outshot Riverside 12-4 .

Bouquet admitted he is excited for his young team, as he believes they will only continue to get better.

“This team has got a bright future ahead of them, it is just exciting to watch this come together and play the type of soccer they are capable of. They have passion, they have drive and they work hard. It’s exciting.”

HOUMA CHRISTIAN 3, RiVERSIDE ACADEMY 1 (BOYS) 

At Schriever, Brayden Hebert accounted for two goals and Grayson Goolsby added one for the Warriors (10-3-3, 2-0-2 in district).

The Warriors outshot Riverside 12-4 while Mason Zeringue notched five saves in goal for Houma Christian.

Colton Wilson scored the lone goal for the Rebels (2-12-2, 1-3-1 in district) in the 17th minute
