Lady Sharks Now 18-2
With three victories last week the Lady Sharks of Port St. Joe improved their record to 18-2 entering the District 2-3A tournament.
The Lady Tiger Sharks, the top seed and unbeaten in district play, will face the winner of Tuesday’s Franklin County-Wewahitchka game at 6 p.m. in Friday’s tournament semifinals. The championship game is at 7 p.m. on Saturday. All games at Liberty County High School.
With Kayla Parker combining to scored 40 points and Mariah Johnson adding 29 the Lady Tiger Sharks swept road games against Blountstown and Wakulla and a home game versus East Gadsden.
The Lady Tiger Sharks broke out early against Blountstown last Tuesday and built a 20-16 lead by halftime en route to a 37-28 victory.
On Thursday, the opponent was Wakulla and after racing ahead 10-2 in the opening quarter Port St. Joe had its hands full before eking out a 45-43 win.
Saturday night, an 8-0 run in the second quarter was decisive as the Lady Tiger Sharks won 46-34 over East Gadsden.
Parker had 17 points against Blountstown, 15 versus Wakulla and eight against West Gadsden. Johnson scored four against Blountstown, nine at Wakulla and led all scorers with 16 against East Gadsden.
