Port St. Joe Middle School Falls in Conference Finals

The Port St. Joe Middle School boys’ basketball team took care of business in the conference semifinals but could not handle Blountstown in the championship game to end its season.

In the first round of the Middle School Conference tournament, held in Blountstown on Dec. 8, Port St. Joe downed Franklin County 44-21.  Port St. Joe was led by Jarkeice Davis who had 17 points; Jack Riley also added seven points.  Port St. Joe’s bench came in the game and played great defense by shutting down Franklin County’s offense, said Coach Sandy Quinn.

In the championship game two days later, Port St. Joe lost to host Blountstown 50-25. Leading the way on offense for the Sharks was Davis with 10 points.

“I am very proud of our team they never gave up even though we were down,” Quinn said. “They fought hard and left it all on the court.  These kids really played great and had a great season.  I am very proud of how these kids developed as the year went on.”

Port St. Joe Middle School all so had a B team this year.

“I would like to congratulate them for the great season that they had,” Quinn said. “They played some great basketball all year and only tied one game.  Every team that they played this year they were able to win.”
