PSJ Middle School Baseball Divides Week
A tough day defensively and an offensive outbreak led to split week for the Port St. Joe Middle School baseball team.
Last Friday the Sharks hosted Wakulla and six errors led to the visitors scoring a pair of unearned runs in a 2-0 Port St. Joe loss.
Bryan Powell, who was 1 for 2 with a double to lead the Shark offense, pitched seven innings striking out 10 and allowing the two unearned runs.
“Defensively we committed too many errors and we just could not get anything going offensively,” said Port St. Joe coach Stacy Strickland.
This past Monday the Sharks traveled to Wewahitchka and pounded the Gators 18-4.
Bryce Godwin started on the mound but lasted just one inning, giving up three earned runs while walking three and striking out one.
Coy Burke pitched two innings of one-hit ball while striking out three and Will Ramsey finished up with a scoreless fourth to complete the game called on the run-rule.
Godwin had a single and a double and scored three times, Powell had a single and a double, Chase Nichols had a single and a double and Ramsey had a pair of singles to lead the Port St. Joe offense.
