Walker, Harris Win State Junior Olympic Qualifier

Megan Walker and Parker Harris, both of Port St. Joe, won the pole vault for last week in a USA Track and Field Florida Junior Olympic Qualifier in Altamonte Springs.

Walker and Parker both won gold in their age divisions and will advance to the USATF Junior Olympics to be held in Greensboro, NC from July 27 through August 2.

Walker, 15, won the Intermediate Girls Division for girls ages 15 and 16. Harris, 18, won the Young Men Division for 17 and 18 year olds.

While not new to Junior Olympics, this was the first USATF sanctioned event for both vaulters. They are each excited to represent their small town in the USATF national meet.
