The Christmas Bazaar and Jingle Bell Golf Tournament held at the St. Joseph Bay Golf Club on Dec. 13-15 was a great success again this year. The Golf Tournament had to be postponed until Sunday, due to the weather, but 40 players participated and had a great time.
The overall program collected a vast amount of new toys and raised much needed funds for the Christmas Wishes Program of the Gulf County Sheriff’s Department.
Thank you to our sponsors who really displayed how this community comes together to help those in need, specifically the St. Joseph Bay Golf Club, Gulf County Sheriff’s Office, South Gulf County Volunteer Fire Department, Gulf 2 Bay Construction, Guerry Magidson, Dan and Barb Van Treese, Pat Hardman and Ron and Mary Kelly. The Gulf County Tourism Development Council supported this great effort. Thanks also go to the many crafters, artists and chefs that participated. The items they hand-made and sold were of high quality and reasonably-priced. The number of vendors once again increased over last year’s event.
Area businesses that allowed the committee to collect funds for the children with the event’s red stockings include: No Name Café, the Coastal Cabin, Peppers, Ace Hardware, Buy Rite Drugs, Port St. Joe Marina, the St. Joseph Bay Golf Club and the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe; the Scallop Cove out at the Cape; and the IGA, Buy Rite Drugs, and the Dixie Dandy in Wewahitchka. Donations at these businesses will help make area families in need and their children have a little brighter Christmas.
An additional thank you to all the workers and volunteers at the St. Joseph Bay Golf Club for the extra effort you made to make this event a success. The banquet room was beautifully decorated, the food prepared by Ron Kelly and his staff was excellent, and the golf course was in great shape even with the extra rain the weather brought.
Also, thanks to Centennial Bank for setting up their tent for our outside vendors use. With the community’s support, this can continue to be an annual event.
