Superintendents forum tonight at museum
The sponsors of the Smithsonian and the Florida Humanities Council's sxhibit, "The Way We Worked" , will feature a FranklinCounty superintendent of schools candidates' forum sponsored by the Committee for Quality Education on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Apalachicola Museum of Art, 96 Fifth Street.
Benefit dinner Saturday forum for Mullis
On Saturday, Feb. 20 there will be a benefit for Raymond Mullis, longtime St.GeorgeIsland resident, who has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Due to illness, because he can no longer support himself and his little dog Snap.
The event takes place at Sometimes It’s Hotter, from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be live music, barbecue and low country boil for $8 per plate and a cash bar.
African-American History Fest this weekend
H’COLA's 13th annual African-American History Festival will be this weekend, beginning Friday, Feb. 19 and running through Sunday, Feb. 21, at Franklin Square, on Sixth Street between Avenues L & M.
Come experience the excitement of live entertainment, vendor exhibits, food, handmade arts and crafts, sensational dance and more! The festival opens Friday at 4p.m, followed by this year's kick-off event, a Mardi Gras Masquerade Party. On Saturday the festival parade at 10 a.m., and festivities continue all day until 8 p.m. The festival concludes Sunday with outdoor interdenominational worship at noon.
