The Supporters of St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge will hold their ninth annual meeting 1-4 p.m. ET on Feb. 21 at the St. Joe Buffer Preserve located at 3915 State Road 30A, Port St Joe.

A complementary pizza and salad lunch will be served.

Guest Speaker will be Dr. Mariana Fuentes, Assistant Professor of Earth, Oceanic and Atmospheric Science at Florida State University in Tallahassee.  Her research is broadly focused on developing science-based solutions for the conservation and management of large marine vertebrates in a changing world.

In addition, a new documentary of St. Vincent Island produced by videographer, Ian Edward Weir, will be shown.

Major funding decreases for the National Wildlife Refuge System make member support more important than ever.

Members are crucial in providing critical supplemental funding for many refuge programs in addition to aiding volunteer and outreach efforts.  Supporters have been able to provide funding for summer interns, equipment repair, research, sea turtle and red wolf programs, to name a few.

Membership dues are the predominant source of this funding.

Beginning Feb. 22, Individual Memberships will be $20 and Family Memberships will be $30.  Act on or before the annual meeting on Feb. 21 and you will pay the current lower prices on new or renewal memberships of $15 for Individual and $20 for Family Memberships.

Of course, think about supporting St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge by purchasing a Lifetime Membership for $300 or making a tax deductible donation for yourself, family or friends.  Members also enjoy a 10 percent discount on all merchandise.

Memberships can be purchased during the membership meeting on Feb. 21, online www.stvincentfriends.org or via mail to PO Box 1073, Eastpoint, FL 32328.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
