Two blowouts, two heartbreakers; that defined the past week for the Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School softball team which emerged from that set 9-7-1 on the season.

The Lady Gators traveled to Tallahassee and lost a heartbreaker, came back home and won against another Tallahassee team.

They went to Aucilla Christian and lost another heartbreaker and returned home to beat Altha.

A game against Wakulla Christian scheduled for Monday was cancelled and not yet rescheduled.

The Lady Gators travel to Port St. Joe Friday.

Tallahassee Chiles 2, Wewahitchka 1

Chiles scored the winning run, unearned, when Brianna Bailey walked in a run in the last of the seventh inning to win a pitcher’s duel.

Both Bailey and Erin O’Leary for Chiles struck out 10 and combined for four runs, only one of which was earned.

Naomi Parker walked and ultimately scored the Lady Gators’ lone run, Gracie Price, the only player with multiple hits, driving in Parker.

Chiles tied it in the third with an unearned run.

Savannah Lister and also had a hit as the Lady Gators produced just four hits.

Bailey allowed eight hits.

Wewahitchka 14, Tallahassee Florida High 4

The Lady Gators scored four runs in the first, added five more in the third and finished off the contest with four more in the sixth.

Price led the way, with five hits, including a pair of doubles, pacing each of the scoring innings.

Her single followed by double from Hale and Parker paced the opening inning and smacked a double as part of the five-run third.

Wewahitchka finished with 15 hits with Anna Setterich, Hale and Parker joining Price with multi-hit games.

Wewahitchka pitching held the Lady Seminoles to just seven hits.

Aucilla Christian 2, Wewahitchka 1

A two-run home run in the bottom half of the fifth inning was the difference as Wewahitchka dropped its second 2-1 decision in a matter of days.

Aucilla was down 1-0 when Natalie Sorenson connected for a two-run blast.

Bailey went six innings allowing six hits and striking out three against two walks.

Both runs were earned.

Cyrina Madrid, who went 3 for 4, produced half of the Lady Gators’ six hits and scored Wewahitchka’s only run.

Bailey had a run-scoring single in the first inning and walked twice, Jade McLemore and Hale both added singles for Wewahitchka.

The Lady Gators did not commit an error, with Setterich error-free on eight chances in the field.

Wewahitchka 18, Altha 1

Price drove in seven runs to pace the Lady Gators, hitting a run-scoring single in the first and adding a grand slam home run in the fourth.

Parker drove in three runs in the first, smashing a home run after Price and Bailey had singled.

The Lady Gators put up 11 runs in the fourth inning, an error followed by a single from Price, a double by Hale, a single by Setterich, a single by Madrid, a walk to Aleah Wooten and Price’s grand slam fueled in the uprising.

Wewahitchka finished with 14 hits, Madrid, Price, Wooten, Bailey and Hale all contributing multiple hits.

Again, the Lady Gators did not commit an error; Price led the way with seven chances in the field.
