If there was any doubt prior to the postseason, it has long been erased.
The Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School softball team (20-7-1) beat visiting Paxton 5-0 Tuesday night to win the Region 1-1A title and punch a second-straight ticket to the state Final Four.
The Lady Gators, state runner-up last year, will play Chiefland (22-6) 1:05 p.m. ET Wednesday at Dodgertown in Vero Beach.
The other semifinal pits Chipley, which toppled last year’s semifinalist Franklin County on Tuesday, and Union County, the title game to be played 1:35 p.m. ET next Thursday.
Tuesday’s win continued a remarkable postseason run by the Wewahitchka ace Brianna Bailey and the Lady Gator defense.
In five postseason games, Wewahitchka and Bailey have fashioned four shutouts and allowed a single run while the Lady Gator offense has churned out 41 runs.
Bailey allowed three hits and struck out 11 against Paxton, completing a regional tournament during which she allowed four hits, struck out 23 and did not allow a run in two game.
Tuesday, the Lady Gators broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the third, added two more in the fourth and a single run in the fifth.
And, as they have during the postseason, a pair of freshmen sparked the offense.
Cyrina Madrid, from the leadoff spot in the batting order, was 3 for 3, stole two bases and scored two runs.
Gracie Price, from the middle of the order, was 2 for 3 with a home run, scored a run and drove in three.
Cecily Hale also drove in a run as the Lady Gators pounded out nine hits.
Naomi Parker, Jade McLemore, Anna Setterich and Bailey also collected hits.

In the region semifinal, Bailey pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out 12, and the Lady Gators romped.
Wewahitchka jumped on top with two runs in the first inning, adding two more runs in both the fourth and fifth innings and plating one more in the sixth.
The Lady Gators pounded out 11 hits and were helped by five Central errors.
Price tripled, singled and drove in two runs and Madrid was 3 for 4, stole two bases and scored twice.
Setterich and Hale each added run-scoring singles, Aleah Wooten drove in a run, Bailey and McLemore each singled and scored and Parker and Kayla Cody also scored runs.
Savannah Lister doubled and singled in three trips to the plate.
