The Great American Paint-Out, Forgotten Coast en Plein Air 2017, winds down over the coming days.
But as it comes to a close, the offerings continue across the area, particularly at St. Joe Arts.
St. Joe Arts, at 201 Reid Ave. in Port St. Joe, is newly-leased space that a local organization hopes can be nurtured into an arts and cultural bookend to a renovated Port Theatre.
This year it has been home to the Wetroom, where paintings fresh off the easel are displayed for the public to view and, if desired, purchase.
Over the coming days, here is a list of options, most located at St. Joe Arts.
Mexico Beach Tableaus. Today, 2-4 p.m. ET at the Mexico Beach Welcome Center, come meet the artists and see their work of Mexico Beach scenes.
Collector’s Gala. Friday, 6-10 p.m. ET at St. Joe Arts. Come enjoy a festive evening and choose that special masterpiece.
Artists Roundtable Discussion. Saturday, 2-4 p.m. ET at St. Joe Arts. Moderated by Lori Putnam, join artists for a discussion at the Wetroom about their perspectives on storytelling through the plein air process.
A Retrospective After 12 Years. Saturday, 11 a.m. until 12 noon ET at St. Joe Arts. Featuring Charles Dickinson, this presentation examines the event; now in its 12th year of documenting the landscape and culture of the authentic “Old Florida,” Forgotten coast en Plein Air is among the world’s most prestigious plein air events.
Small Painting Sunday. Sunday, 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. ET at St. Joe Arts, Sunday is an opportunity for artists to produce and exhibit “small works” that capture the essence of our beautiful community and landscape in smaller formats. 1
Artists’ Choice Discussion. Sunday, 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. ET at St. Joe Arts. Featuring Lori Putnam, join the discussion about the significance of the Artists’ Choice Collection and features of the winning paintings.
