Together, the Mexico Beach Community Development Council, the Special Events of Mexico Beach and the City of Mexico Beach will host the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 3. This special holiday event will help kick off Christmas time at the beach. The event will begin at 6 p.m. CT at Sunset Park. Everyone is invited to watch as Sunset Park is transformed into a Christmas light wonderland.
Immediately following the lighting of the tree, a whimsical decorated golf cart parade will escort Santa Claus to the park so he can join in on the festivities. Santa will pose with all the boys and girls and he will listen to their Christmas wish list. Attendees, don’t forget to bring your own camera so you can get that snapshot of your child with Santa. There will be live music to get everyone into the holiday spirit as well as cookies and hot chocolate.
The Mexico Beach Police Department is asking for donations of unwrapped toys to be placed under the Christmas tree during the event. They will deliver the toys to local families in need throughout the holiday season.
For those creative elves who are interested in participating in the golf cart parade, please contact Traci Gaddis at (850) 227-6770 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
“The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is a Mexico Beach tradition we are proud to continue,” said MBCDC President Kimberly Shoaf. “It is a great event that offers residents and visitors the opportunity to gather together to celebrate the holiday season.”
