As the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event winds to a close this weekend, there remains plenty on tap for art lovers in the coming days.

First, the exhibits.

The Judge’s Exhibit, featuring the work of Lori Putnam, will be at the Mexico Beach Visitors Center through Friday before it moves to the Joe Center for the Arts on Reid Ave. for the weekend.

“Shrimpers” Residency Exhibit, featuring the work of Morgan Samuel Price, continues through Sunday at the Port Inn in Port St. Joe.

The Founder’s Collection can be viewed at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf in Port St. Joe

The Masters’ Gallery, featuring studio works by this year’s invited artists is found at the Joe Center for the Arts in Port St. Joe.

The Wetroom, the main gallery for new works that will be created this year, is also found at the Joe Center for the Arts There will be an open house 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. ET Saturday.

Reid Avenue Streetscapes, Artist Demonstrations, 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Joe Center for the Arts.

The Mexico Beach Farmers Market. The Mexico Beach Farmers and Craft Market will be held Saturday in Parker Park. New winter hours are 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CT. Shop for fresh, local vegetables and baked goods as well as gifts and goodies from local craftspeople. Parker Park is located at 2500 U.S. Highway 98. Vendor applications are available at under calendar of events.



Climb the Cape San Blas Lighthouse. Venture down to George Core Park in Port St. Joe and climb to the top of the Cape San Blas Lighthouse, nearly 100 feet high. The lighthouse is open 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. ET Thursday through Saturday. For adults 13 and over, the cost to climb is $5 and for children under 12, but at least 44-inches tall, the cost for the climb is $3. Please, no flip-flops – climbers need sturdy shoes. In addition, the lighthouse is open, by appointment, for groups of 5 or more. The minimum charge is $25. Contact 229-8261 to book an appointment for a group.


Purchase a player's efforts, support a program. The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School football team will have its annual work day Saturday. The cost is $40 a kid and we like to send them in groups of 2 or 4. Work will begin at 9 a.m. ET and finish at 2 p.m. If you have any spring cleaning jobs around your house or business please let us know.
