How much forage do we need? How many animals can we stock? These are some of the questions that can be answered at the upcoming grazing school on Sept. 14. The event will take place at the North Florida Research & Education Center’s Beef Cattle Unit located at 4925 Highway 162 in Greenwood. Registration is from 8 – 8:45 a.m. CT on the day of the event and there is a $20 fee. However, one can pre-register at


All sessions will be outside. The morning session will include pasture establishment, seeding rate, seeding depth, timing and varieties. Other topics discussed will be pasture fertility, management and economics as well as supplementing grazing animals. The afternoon session will include temporary fencing tools and technologies, as well as calibration of planting equipment. The field day will conclude at 3:30 p.m.
