The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls’ basketball team that reached the state Class 1A title game last year is not the same team opening this year’s campaign.

After the loss of four key seniors, some say Coach Kenny Parker and the Lady Tiger Sharks are rebuilding.

Parker, though, thinks by season’s end his team has a chance to get back to Lakeland. The Lady Tiger Sharks will be led by seniors Te-Te Croom, in her second season, and Quinci Elphinstone, who did not play last year.

Other players to watch are ninth-grader Mimi Larry and two eight-graders, Jae Lenox (who had a game high 24 in the state semifinal last year versus Paxton), and Mari Johnson who has much improved and is a force on the boards.
