Lorey Pipkorn, a Bay County teacher, recently held a personal fundraiser for Christmas toys, splitting her donations between Gulf and Bay counties.
Pipkorn said she thought experiencing donating would be good for her students.
In Bay County, she had the students in her class choose one thing on Amazon that was on their own Christmas list. They ordered the toys and they will be distributed in Bay.
In Gulf County, Pipkorn took some of the members of Patronis School Student Council and let them select bikes. According to Pipkorn, the students loved the experience.
“What a great teaching opportunity in giving Lorey has provided the students, while providing Christmas toys for those who will appreciate having that special gift under the tree Christmas morning,” said Dr. Pat Hardman, President of the Coastal Community Association of Gulf County, which accepted the donations on behalf of the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office Toy Drive.
“What a win for everyone. Thanks, Lorey.”
