The last Wednesday of March is Manatee Appreciation Day. Check out these museums, parks and centers in Florida to celebrate.

Manatee Appreciation Day is March 27. To no surprise, the gentle giants are a threatened species due to boat collisions, disease and other wildlife factors like red tide.

On this day, we are reminded to respect and care for our state marine mammal.

Spend time with manatees, also known as sweet sea cows, or simply take a trip to learn more about them at any of these Florida museums, parks or centers.

Tampa Electric’s Manatee Viewing Center: Here you can climb a tower to watch manatees swim toward one another in Tampa Bay.

Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park: Experience an educational program about manatees through March 31.

Palm Beach County’s Manatee Lagoon: Experience an “all things manatee” exhibit during a public or private tour.
