Two early week wins removed a bit of the sting from a pair of weekend tournament losses for the Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School softball team.
The Lady Gators (9-5) beat Tallahassee Florida High 2-1 Tuesday night after romping past Bozeman 13-0 Monday.
Wewahitchka was coming off a tournament at The Villages during which the Lady Gators loss two-straight for the second time in two weeks after not losing two consecutive since February 2018.
The Lady Gators were 2-2 in the tournament, winning their first two games and losing the last two against two state softball powerhouses.
Wewahitchka 5, The Villages Charter 2
Savannah Lister went the distance in the circle and the Lady Gators pounded out 10 hits, though they had just one RBI.
Gracie Price hit a solo home run for that lone RBI.
The Lady Gators scored one in the first inning and four in the second while The Villages Charter scored single runs in the third and fifth innings.
Haley Guffey, Katie Shealy, Cyrina Madrid and Tamiah Rouse all singled and scored a run.
Kristen Thompson and Lister each singled twice and Aleah Wooten also singled.
The Lady Gators also stole seven bases in eight attempts
Lister struck out seven and walked three while allowing four hits and two runs, both earned.
Wewahitchka 5, Belleview 1
The Lady Gators scored four times in the fourth inning to open a close game.
Guffey was in the circle and struck out 16 while walking five in seven innings.
Price was doubled and singled, Wooten singled, drove in two and scored and Rouse scored.
Morgan Mayhann singled and Lister doubled, each scoring, and Thompson and Shealy each had a single and drove in a run.
Westminster Christian 4, Wewahitchka 0
The Lady Gators had five hits but could not score.
Westminster scored once in the first and added three runs in the second.
Guffey was 2 for 3 and Savanna Mayhann and Madrid added singles, Thompson a double.
Lister pitched six innings for Wewahitchka, allowing five hits and four earned runs while walking three and striking out two.
George Jenkins 4, Wewahitchka 0
In their final tournament game, the Lady Gators were held to just three hits.
Shealy, Thompson and Price each singled.
The game was scoreless until George Jenkins plated three runs in the fifth, adding another in the sixth inning.
Guffey went the full seven innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs while walking four and striking out two.
