Annual cookout for charity. First United Methodist Church of Port St. Joe will sponsor its annual Cookout for Charity this weekend in conjunction with Bluewater Outriggers’ annual Tent Sale.

The cookout hours will be 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. ET Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Look for the tent.

The menu includes a hamburger combo (chips, drink and dessert) for $5 and a hot dog combo (chips, drink, dessert) for $4.

Ala carte is also available, including: hamburger ($3,), hot dog ($2), chips ($1), drink ($1) and dessert ($1).

All proceeds benefit local charities through the First United Methodist Building Fund.



Shop the Farmers Market Saturday. The Port St. Joe SaltAir Farmers Market, now in its 12th year, returns Saturday to City Commons Park adjacent to Port St. Joe City Hall, at the intersection of Reid Ave. and Cecil G. Costin, Sr. Blvd. The market is held 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. ET the first and third Saturdays of every month. At the market you may find fresh seasonal produce, jewelry, tie dye, carved woodwork and much more.



Reach the highest heights. The Cape San Blas Lighthouse and Gift Shop, located in Port St. Joe’s George Core Park, is back open and operating on hours for the season.

The lighthouse and gift shop are open 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. ET Wednesday through Saturday.

Venture to the top of the lighthouse, nearly 100 feet high, and check out one of the best views around.

The cost to climb is $5. Children under 12, but at least 44-inches tall, may climb for $3.

No flip-flops, sturdy shoes needed to climb.


Choral concerts in Port St. Joe, Apalachicola. The Bay Area Choral Society is preparing for its upcoming Spring Concerts, during which the Choir will perform “The Seven Last Words of Christ” by Theodore Dubois. The Seven Last Words of Christ is presented in eight movements: an introduction for soprano and orchestra followed by a movement for each word of Christ from the cross.

The Chorus will present “The Seven Last Words of Christ” 4 p.m. ET Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Apalachicola and 6 p.m. ET Friday, April 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Port St. Joe. The suggested donation to attend is $5 at the door.
