Incumbents were out Tuesday as Mexico Beach voters took to the polls to decide the Group 2 and Group 3 races for City Council seats.
Mayor Al Cathey was also up for re-election this year, but won a new term when he was unopposed when candidate qualifying closed.
In Group 2, Jerry Smith, running for elected office for the first time, took 70 percent of the vote to easily oust incumbent Linda Albrecht.
Bobby Pollock, a former councilmember seeking to return to the board, earned 73.3 percent of the vote to unseat Bill McGlothin.
The Mexico Beach precinct saw the lowest turnout of any other during Bay County’s “Super Tuesday” municipal elections.
Just over 400 votes were cast in each of the races.
