The Gulf County Libraries recently received several notable grants that will assist in library programming and increase the number of books in circulation.
Two of the grants were focused on disaster recovery.
The Corinne Costin Gibson Memorial Library in Port St. Joe received one of five $1,000 runner-up awards from the American Library Association Penguin Random House Award for Innovation through Adversity.
Gulf County Coordinator Nancy Brockman was recognized for her organization in providing vital resources and programming to the community after Hurricane Michael.
The grant funds will be used for books and materials.
The George and Amelia Tapper Foundation provided grant funding for new books and programs to the Friends of the Gulf County Public Libraries.
The grant funds will be used at the Corinne Costin Gibson Memorial Public Library.
The Charles Whitehead Public Library in Wewahitchka was not left out, receiving a Pilcrow Foundation Disaster Relief Grant.
The Children’s Book Project provides $8000 in new, hardcover children’s books from the Pilcrow Foundation.
