The Gulf County Chamber of Commerce announced last week the hiring of a new executive director.

Joe Whitmer and wife Sara recently moved to Gulf County from Memphis, TN. Both were active in the non-profit community in Shelby County, TN and served on several boards. Joe was the Chief Operating Officer for The Blues Foundation before relocating to the beach. He currently serves as production consultant and continues to produce the organization’s major events.

Joe and Sara Whitmer founded the Forgotten Music Festival, which will take place in Port St. Joe in early November. They also operate Old Florida Events and Forgotten Media.

Relocating to Gulf County was a dream for the couple for many years. Like many, the beautiful beaches and friendly residents made moving here a priority, not just a dream. Once settled, both found ways to bring positive energy to this scenic location. Joe’s plan for the chamber is to continue the mission of service and assistance to Gulf County businesses.
