An empowerment workshop for girls and their mothers/caregivers was recently held in Port St. Joe at the historic Port St. Joe Garden Club. The theme of the event was "Pumps-Pearls-and-Denim."

A morning of fun, food, and information was kicked off with each attendee being presented a strand of pearls as a gift of remembrance. Mrs. Bonnie Williams from Wells Fargo Advisers shared valuable information on money management and financial fitness; Mrs. Sissy Godwin, Assistant Principal at Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School, enlightened the group on what everyone can do to assure a successful year and the benefits of positive community involvement; Drs. H. Worthen and E. Stevenson of Florida A&M University shared the importance of mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy in planning for the future.
