The Port St. Joe Garden Club will hold its first meetings of the 2019-2020 year 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET today at the Garden Center located at 216 Eighth Street. An exciting year of events is planned.

Garden club members as well as the general public are invited to attend either meeting of their choice. This will be a delightful opportunity to connect with gardeners in our community or reconnect with long term members. Light refreshments will be served.

It is a tradition of the garden club to aid the local food pantry. At this time, there is an urgent need for rice, pasta of any kind, and canned meat, tuna, and chicken. Thank you for remembering to respond generously to this cause by dropping your contribution into the boxes provided at the meeting.

The mission of the Port St. Joe Garden Club is to foster and encourage horticulture and conservation of soil and natural resources. The garden club works toward the beautification of streets, highways and other areas, and participates in community and civic projects which have as their goal the beautification of Gulf County and other areas. In addition, the club maintains the Port St. Joe Blue Star marker and two orphaned Blue Star markers, one in Callaway and one on the Tyndall AFB, to honor veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. Finally, the organization supports youth education in horticulture and conservation by sponsoring field trips for fifth graders to the UF/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy, Florida.

Please help our hostesses by RSVPing to psjgardenclub@gmail.com, by calling club president Nancy Edwards at 770-713-3267, or by posting to the Port St. Joe Garden Club Facebook page. This will be the start of a fabulous year!
