Behind the efforts of Jade Cothran and Zack McFarland the cross country teams at Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School had a strong showing as they hosted a meet Monday for the first time this season.

With districts looming on the horizon, the Port St. Joe harriers showed stamina and depth on a hot, muggy day at St. Joseph Bay Golf Club.

Runners from as far away as Wakulla Christian and Graceville dotted the field and as the afternoon ended the Port St. Joe girls finished second and the Tiger Sharks finished third.

Cothran led the Lady Tiger Sharks, finishing second overall.

McFarland did the same on the boys’ side, taking second behind a dominating run blazed by a runner out of Blountstown.

The Port St. Joe teams had three other individuals finish among the top 10.

Autumn Kotelman took fourth and Madelynn Gortemoller seventh for the Port St. Joe girls and Ricky Forbes sixth for the Port St. Joe boys.

As for the Lady Tiger Sharks, after Gortemoller more of the depth showed up shortly after.

Zoe Gerlach (12th), Kristen Bouington (14th), Hannah DaCosta (17th) and Kaylee Schweikert (22nd) all finished in the top 25.

Jaslyn Raffield was 51st, Brooklyn Sheppard 59th and Kensley Mathews (60th).

Behind McFarland and Forbes on the boys’ side, Jack Trochessett was 25th, Dylan Davis 26th and Walker Chumney 29th.

Miles Butler took 36th, Britt White 37th, Rilen Butler 51st, Noah Barfield 59th, Tanner Fogle 79th and Damarian Burch 89th.
