Following losses last Friday night, the football teams from Port St. Joe and Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High Schools each dropped in this week’s Sunshine State Athletic Conference poll.
Port St. Joe, which lost to top-ranked Blountstown to drop to 3-4, fell one spot to No. 6 in the poll, with Graceville jumping over into the top 5 for the first time.
The Tiger Sharks beat Graceville two weeks ago.
Wewahitchka, which lost to Liberty County to fall to 2-5, dropped from eighth to 10th in the new poll.
The top 5, in order, are Blountstown, Baker, Vernon, Sneads (unchanged since last week) and Graceville.
Following Port St. Joe in the second five is Jefferson Somerset, Holmes County, Cottondale and Wewahitchka.
Franklin County and Liberty County complete the poll rankings.
The coaches of the respective schools are the voters in the poll.
Port St. Joe and Wewahitchka are both off this week, the end of the eight-week regular season in the conference.
Following this Friday’s results, a final ranking will determine playoff positioning for the ensuing three weeks.
That will lead into the Florida High School Athletics Association state playoffs for those teams eligible.
