SOUTHPORT – Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative (GCEC) recently announced the transfer of Sheila Alston to military affairs assistant and an addition of a new employee, Beverly Wall, as communications specialist.
Alston joined GCEC in 2016 as a cashier/receptionist and quickly advanced to member services representative working in both the Southport and Panama City offices. She started working at the Tyndall Air Force Base office after Hurricane Michael destroyed the Panama City office. She is key to our operations and the execution of the Tyndall Air Force Base utilities privatization contract. Her duties include providing administrative support to the supervisor of military affairs and the Tyndall AFB GCEC staff. She will also be responsible for the preparation and distribution of monthly reports, service orders for line locates and planned outages, project management, tracking monthly water and electric meter readings, and ongoing communications with our vendors. She recently received the company’s Tomica Lowery Memorial Award.
“We are pleased to have Sheila assume this role,” said Ralph Jameson, supervisor of military affairs. “She is an exceptional employee.”
Beverly Wall recently joined the marketing/communications team at GCEC. Prior to joining the GCEC team, she held several leadership positions in the telecommunications industry and oversaw marketing, communications and sales for multiple markets including Atlanta, St. Louis, Montgomery and several Florida markets. She will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of the member magazine; employee communications; public relations, including media communications; and community projects.
“Beverly is an excellent addition to our team,” commented Kristin Evans, VP of Marketing and Communications. “Her work experience in the telecommunications industry will translate well to our co-op.”
