When Kirk S. Jockell wrote a Letter to the Editor about the birth of his daughter, he received enough positive response to inspire his new career in writing and publishing.

The local author, who believes that if you can read, you can write, will speak 11 a.m. ET Saturday at a Library Author Talk at the Corinne Costin Gibson Memorial Library in Port St. Joe.

Jockell’s presentation is titled “If You're A Reader, You're A Writer.”

Designed especially for individuals who have always wanted to write a book, but don’t know how, Jockell will share how he got started, his process and the world of self-publishing.

Kirk is a retired Senior Chief from the World’s most powerful Navy and now calls Port St. Joe home. He is the author/creator of the Nigel Logan Stories and the three-book series, Tales from Stool 17.

In addition to writing, Kirk enjoys sailing, reading, fishing, playing his guitar and throwing his cast net for mullet.

The lecture is free and open to the public—and is made possible with support from the Friends of the Gulf County Public Libraries.

The Corinne Costin Gibson Memorial Public Library is located at 100 Library Drive in Port St. Joe.
