April usually means nice weather, picnics, cookouts, children chasing butterflies - if you can get them off their "machines" long enough! Lately there are an increasing number of families riding bikes and splashing around in pools during the week, due to the historical event we are living thru - Covid-19.

April is also national Child Abuse Prevention month and as such, an event GFWC marks with the campaign "PINWHEELS FOR PREVENTION". PINWHEELS is part of a national movement to change the way people think about child abuse prevention. The blue with silver pinwheels represent the safe, happy and healthy childhood ALL children deserve!

So, in April the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club showcased a garden of these pinwheels in Wewahitchka and Port St. Joe. Let's be aware of children around us having a sunny day and doing kid things! While always being ready to report signs of those who need our protection.

If you would like to learn more about all the exciting programs and projects we do in support of our community and more, visit our Facebook page, GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club and join us at our regular monthly meeting, the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. CT at the Glad Tidings Church Fellowship Hall in Wewahitchka.

Our next meeting is 6 p.m. CT Tuesday, Aug. 10. Hope to see you there.
