Lanas Fox, 88, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family
on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, after an extended illness. Mr. Fox was born on March 5, 1931, to the late Burt and Katherine Fox, of Callaway, Florida.
Mr. Fox was employed by St. Joe Paper Company paper mill in Port St. Joe for
21 years before retirement. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Assembly of
God Church in Port St. Joe, and he was a special volunteer with the children’s
programs at the church. In his spare time and following retirement, Mr. Fox found
enjoyment hunting and fishing in area woodlands and waterways, attending youth sporting events, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Fox was an Army veteran who served his country proudly during the Korean War era. He was one of the “Chosin Few” who fought in the important Korean War battle known as the “Battle of Chosin Reservoir Campaign”, or the Battle of Jangjin Lake.
Mr. Fox was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of over 60 years, Myrtle Fox, of White City; sons, Lou (Deanna) Fox and Carl (Mary) Fox, all of White City; and grandchildren, Heather Fox, Tyler Fox, Catherine Fox, and Rachel (Scott) Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Scott, and Grayson Jackson.
Mr. Fox is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Holladay, of Wewahitchka; three sister-in-laws; one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carlton Fox, of Callaway; and grandson, Christopher Wade Fox.
Visitation with the Fox family began at 10 a.m., ET on Tuesday,
November 12, 2019, at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church in Port St. Joe. Funeral services, with Reverend David Fernandez officiating, followed beginning at 11 a.m., ET. Burial followed in Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe with
military funeral honors.
Active pallbearers honoring Mr. Fox will be Bobby Batyski, Mike Batyski,
David Givens, Scott Givens, Tyler Fox, and Chris Hicks.
