Audrey Mae Smith, age 97, of Wewahitchka, FL passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 in Port St. Joe, FL. Audrey was born on August 10, 1922 in Panama City, FL to Leroy Griffin and Kellie (Butler) Griffin and had lived in Gulf County for most of her life. She was a retired Oyster Shucker and was of the Holiness faith. Audrey enjoyed quilting, fishing, cooking, working in her flower garden, collecting recipes and truly loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, Bonnie Smith and Edward Chumney, one son, Glen Lee Smith, two daughters, Sondra Smith and Bonnie Jewell Lollie, two brothers and four sisters, a grandson Tony, Dalton and great-great-grandson James Ellis Paul, two step-children, Thomas Jefferson Chumney and Judy Diane Knowles.
Survivors include, one son Edward J. Smith and wife, Ginny of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Connie Hysmith of Wewahitchka, FL and Aritha Jean Nowling of Eastpoint, FL; two step-daughters, Betty Sue Britt and Norma Jean Dunkle; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 2 p.m. (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Johnny Collins officiating. Interment followed in Cypress Creek Cemetery in Kinard. The family received friends Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 1 p.m. (CST) until service time at 2 p.m. (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
