The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls’ basketball team finished up last week with a pair of wins which brought the Lady Tiger Sharks to 3-3 on the season.


West Florida 53, Port St. Joe 28


Class 4A power West Florida out of Pensacola was Port St. Joe’s draw during the Emerald Coast Thanksgiving Classic at Choctawhatchee High School. West Florida jumped to an early 12-3 lead which was 19-9 at halftime.


The Lady Tiger Sharks cut the lead to seven points midway through a third period that ended with West Florida on a 13-6 run.


India Gant had seven points, three rebounds, one assist, a steal and a blocked shot to pace Port St. Joe.


Mimi Larry chipped in six points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal, Jae Lenox five points, a rebound and a steal and Shadiava Hudgins 4 points, a rebound and a steal.


Mari Johnson added two points, eight rebounds, one assist, two steals and two blocks, Jahneese Brathwaite two points, one rebound, a steal and a block and Amani Jones one point, five rebounds and three blocks.


Port St. Joe 61, Wewahitchka


The Lady Tiger Sharks opened its home season with a rematch with a county rival; the Lady Gators hosted Port St. Joe to open the season.


The results were pretty much the same as Port St. Joe opened the game on a 26-0 run and forged a 45-5 halftime lead, kicking off a running clock for the second half.


Gant scored 11 points to lead four players in double figures and added five rebounds, three assists and four steals.


Lenox had 10 points, three assists, four steals and a rebound, Amani Jones had 10 points and added eight rebounds, one steal and a block and Mari Johnson also scored 10 points, adding nine rebounds, three steals, a block and an assist.


Larry added five points, five rebounds, three steals, four blocks and an assist, Breathwaite four points, two rebounds, three assists and four steals, Hudgins four rebounds, one rebound and an assist, Bree Baker three points, Zhyion Quinn two points, seven rebounds and a steal and Ty'Shawn Shackaford two points and a steal.


Port St. Joe 68, North Florida Christian 40


After playing two competitive summer league games, Port St. Joe agreed to travel to Tallahassee to play North Florida Christian during the regular season.


Port St. Joe opened a 14-1 first-quarter lead last Saturday and pushed the lead to 32-10 by halftime.


The teams played on relatively even terms in the second half as Port St. Joe coasted to victory.


Larry led Port St. Joe with 17 points and 11 rebounds, adding an assist, steal and block.


Lenox added 14 points and 15 assists as well as three rebounds and eight steals and Mari Johnson also had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, adding two assists, four steals and a block.


Jones added eight points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks, Gant eight points, three rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block and Brathwaite eight points, a rebound, three assists and three steals.


Port St. Joe was at Liberty County Tuesday, host Blountstown 5 p.m. Friday and travel to Bozeman Monday.


The Gulf County Classic arrives Saturday
