The Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School wrestling team took four wrestlers to last weekend’s Swede Umback Invitational tournament at Auburn (AL) High School.

Wewahitchka was one of just two Florida schools, the other Fort Walton Beach, invited to be part of an 18-team tournament field comprised in significant measure by large Alabama and Georgia schools.

Justin Johnson at 113 pounds, Conner Roberts at 126, Jaden Moseley at 132 and Kaylee Easter at 138 were the Gators who made the trip.

Moseley (8-6 entering the tournament) racked up the bulk of the Gators points, finishing sixth after opening the tournament with three consecutive pins, the first two in less than a minute.

His tournament ended with a loss in the fifth-place match.

Roberts (8-7) also provided some points for Wewahitchka in the team competition by finishing 15th.

Roberts won three of his eight matches, including a pin in the 15th-place match.

Johnson and Easter each failed to score.
