After a pair of 0-0 ties, the Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls’ soccer team returned to the scoreboard last Friday with a 3-1 win over Rocky Bayou.

The win improves the Lady Tiger Sharks record to 4-1.2 and 3-0-0 in district play.

Zoe Gerlach scored a pair of first-half goals as Port St. Joe jumped in front early, Gerlach scoring at the 28:35 mark and again at the 15:35 mark, the second goal with an assist from Jasslyn Raffield.

Rocky Bayou made it 2-1 at the 29 minute mark of the second half, but Morgan Mills, with an assist by Gerlach, scored the final goal at the 18 minute mark.

Port St. Joe did not manage a goal in its prior two games.

On the other hand, Chloe Jones has been just as stingy in goal for the Lady Tiger Sharks.

Consecutive games at Marianna and at home to North Bay Haven ended in 0-0 scores.

Maybe it sounds a bit strange, but the high school soccer season is the midst of the second of its three legs.

There are the opening games heading into Fall and Thanksgiving breaks, followed by December flurry before the Christmas holidays with the final leg coming with the new calendar year.

The Lady Tiger Sharks hosted Springfield Rutherford 6 p.m. ET Monday at the soccer fields at the Lamar Faison sports complex; the December push ends tonight at Bozeman.

London White and Madelyn Gortemoller lead the team with four goals apiece and Gerlach now has three.

Haley Corzine, Jasslyn Raffield and Jones have each scored a single goal.

Gortemoller and Gerlach lead the team with two assists apiece while Raffield and Corzine have each added one.

Jones has taken the bulk of the minutes in goal, allowing four goals in seven games.

The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls’ soccer team has beaten Franklin County twice, 6-0 and 6-1 and Walton County 4-2. They lost 3-1 to Bay.
