The Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School softball team continued its opening spurt over the past week with wins over Altha, Liberty County and Franklin County by a combined score of 37-3.


Wewahitchka 16, Franklin County 1


Aleah Wooten hit a first inning home run to spark a 15-hit attack and Savannah Lister pitched four innings striking out five in a game shortened on the run rule.


The Lady Gators (5-0) put up eight runs in the second inning, three in third and four in the fourth to complete the scoring.


The second inning included a grand slam home run by Lister.


Gracie Price was 3 for 4 with a triple, scored twice and drove in three, Aleah Wooten was 3 for 3 with four runs and two RBIs and Cyrina Madrid had two hits, scored twice and drove in two.


Morgan Mayhann doubled, drove in a run and scored a run, Haley Guffey singled, scored and drove in a run and Katie Shealy doubled twice, scored twice and drove in two.


Tamiah Rouse had a hit and scored.


Wewahitchka 11, Altha 0


Lister tossed a complete-game shutout, going five innings (the game was ended on the run rule) while allowing five hits, striking out six and walking none.


The Lady Gators had 11 hits.


Guffey started the scoring by being hit by a pitch in the opening inning driving in a run and Wewahitchka went on to score four runs in the inning, following that with three runs in each of the next two innings and another in the fifth.


Lister helped her cause with a home run, double and two RBIs and Wooten had two hits and scored three times.


Price doubled, singled, scored and drove in two, Madrid doubled and scored twice and Savana Mayhann had a double and scored.


Kristen Thompson added a hit, run and RBI, Ashley Thompson a hit and RBI and Rouse an RBI.


The Lady Gators were also 8 for 8 on stolen bases, Madrid, Ashley Thompson and Wooten each with two.


Wewahitchka 10, Liberty County 2


The Lady Gators broke open a close game with six runs in the sixth inning.


Wooten, Guffey, Kristen Thompson and Morgan Mayhann each drove in runs during the inning.


Guffey earned the victory, going seven innings and allowing three hits and three walks while striking out 10.


Price hit a first-inning home run, added a single, scored twice and drove in a run for Wewahitchka.


Kristen Thompson’s home run was a key hit in the sixth inning and she scored twice and drove in three.


Madrid was 2 for 3 with two runs, Lister and Wooten each had an RBI single, Morgan Mayhann had two hits and two RBIs and Guffey had a hit, run and RBI.
