Karen Louise McVey Taylor, resident of Howard Creek, fought the good fight and finished the race on February 10, 2020. She was a very loving and caring wife and mother. She is survived by her husband Wayne, daughter Jennifer (Virginia Beach, VA), son Wayne, Jr. (Crestview, FL), sisters Sharon Lee (Navarre, FL), Maureen Marshall (Austin, TX) and brother Michael McVey (Crestview, FL). Karen was born in San Antonio, TX. A child of an Air Force sergeant, she travelled quite a bit. She was a 1973 graduate of Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach. She met her husband Wayne Taylor in Fort Walton and they married in August of 1973. When Wayne enlisted in the Navy she was moving again. Her final career was the bookkeeper at Port St Joe High School where she retired in 2019. She loved cooking and sewing and travelling with her sisters in the summer. She was the biggest supporter of her husband Wayne's career in the Navy and his second career as an educator at Port St. Joe High School where they worked together for 14 years before retiring. She absolutely loved being a grandmother to eight wonderful grandchildren. They are Donte’ Galloup (Pensacola, FL), Alexia Taylor, Alana Taylor, Christian Taylor, Coen Taylor, Maddox Taylor, Isabella Taylor (all from Crestview, FL) and Emily Wheeler (Virginia Beach, VA). A celebration of life for her will be held at a future date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her honor or the Moffitt Cancer Center in her honor. She is greatly loved and will be dearly missed here on this earth by all her family and friends.
