Mrs. Opal Floyd, 86, of Perry, FL, passed away at her home on June 9, 2020. Opal was born March 26, 1934 in Port St. Joe, Florida to Price Gay and Pauline Peters Gay. Floyd was of the Church of God faith and was a member of Center Street Church of God. She worked as a Lunchroom Worker for Taylor County High School from where she retired after many years of service.

She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, and in her spare time she enjoyed quilting, embroidery, painting, and crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, Price Gay and Pauline Pierce; her husband, Hubert Floyd; 2 sons, James Floyd Jr. and Terry Floyd; 1 daughter, Glenda Slaughter; a brother, Ben “Buddy” Gay; a sister, Vinnie Mae Byrd; and a great-grand-daughter, Kayla Floyd.

She is survived by: one daughter, Imogene Morgan, Winchester, TN; one sister, Willie Mae Watson, of Port St. Joe, FL; four grandchildren, Shawn Floyd, Davey Pickett, Andrew Byrd, and Niki Imbery; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Robert Kirkland officiating. Interment took place in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
