United Way Distributes $170,023 in Six-County Area
More Than Thirty Agencies Receive Funds from Hurricane Michael Relief Fund
PANAMA CITY– The United Way of Northwest Florida Board of Directors approved the distribution of $170,023 from the Hurricane Michael Relief Fund to more than 30 agencies in Northwest Florida.
Local volunteers from Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson and Washington counties reviewed applications from more than 50 different agencies before awarding the funds. Checks will be distributed to agencies this week.
The Hurricane Michael Relief Fund was established in October 2018. This distribution is the fourth and final disbursement of money from that fund. One hundred percent of the donations to the HMRF were distributed to agencies vetted by local volunteers working in each individual county.
In total, more than $1.2 million in funding was distributed to non-profit agencies in our six-county service area to assist those affected by Hurricane Michael.
