Tiger Sharks host Vernon Friday after opening win

Colin Amison threw for 328 yards and five touchdowns as the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks won their regular-season opener 34-26 last Friday at Marianna. 

Port St. Joe hosts Vernon 7:30 p.m. ET Friday. 

A second-quarter injury to running back D.J. Oliver forced Port St. Joe to the air the rest of the way against Marianna and Amison and six receivers made it work. 

The score was tied 14-13 at halftime before Port St. Joe opened up a lead with 15 points in the third quarter, which ended with the Tiger Sharks up 28-20.

Amison completed 16 of 24 and threw one interception while compiling a healthy quarterback rating in the mid-130s. 

Nick Jefferson caught four balls for 122 yards and Dakota Quinn had three receptions for 104 yards. 

Israel Goldsborough also had four catches with 67 yards and Lajuan Zaccaro (3-21), Oliver (1-5) and Jacob Hopper (1-9) also had receptions. 

Oliver left the game after carrying six times for 23 yards; Amison added 21 rushing yards on four carries. 

The Tiger Sharks rolled up 372 yards of offense. 

Aiden Gainer had 16 tackles to pace the Port St. Joe defense, with Hopper adding 11 tackles and Kevin Lacivita 10. 

Lacivita, Gainer and Saylor Tull each had a sack.
